3-year-old proposes to preschool crush, marries her 20 years later

You might want to pay closer attention to your 3-year-old's statements of intent!

Matt Grodsky married Laura Scheel in December and he says that one of his very first memories is "of being three years old and standing up in front of my preschool class, declaring that I would marry her someday".

He shared their story on Instagram account The Way We Met and has garnered almost 30,000 likes for the romantic tale.


Matt revealed that Laura taught him "how to ride the swings, draw rolling hills, and the 'right way' to properly eat string cheese" and he was "enamoured with Laura as a child, and I still am to this day".

The little lovebirds lost touch when they went to elementary school but saw each other's faces via family Christmas cards exchanged between their famlies.

"It wasn't until High School that we reconnected by happenstance through a mutual friend. Within two weeks, we decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend."


They dated through high school even though they attended different schools and they had a long distance relationship while going to college in differen tstates.

Matt proposed in May 2015 outside the preschool classroom where he had first declared he would marry her.
