Bride asks grandmother (89) to be a bridesmaid in her wedding and the results are heartwarming

A new bride's wedding party has gone viral after featuring her 89-year-old grandmother as one of her bridesmaids.

Christine Quinn wed Pat in May in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and while they whittled down their list of family, friends and members of the bridal party - they agreed that one woman had to feature - Christine's granny.

"You’re only as old as you feel and I feel young today," Nana Betty said according to Christine.

The newlywed. who considers her grandmother as one of her best friends, explained the non-traditional move: "While she doesn’t live that close, we have continually made it a point to spend as much time together as possible," Christine told The Huffington Post.

"She just has an amazing sense of humor and outlook on life that I strive to emulate every day. Everyone loves her."

The couple said they had to convince her to particupate because Nana Betty doesn't like being centre stage.

"She asked me about 10 times, 'Are you sure?' and 'Why would you want an old lady in your bridal party?'" Quinn added. "A few times she even said 'All of your bridesmaids are young and pretty, why would you want me?' Obviously Nana is beautiful too. Just look at those photos!"
