Dublin Captain Stephen Cluxton weds long-term girlfriend Joanne O’Connor in Laois

Dublin GAA star Stephen Cluxton has wed his long-term girlfriend Joanne O’Connor in a New Year’s Eve ceremony in Killenard, Co. Laois this afternoon.

The Dublin captain wed his love in St John’s Church today, in a wedding ceremony attended by many of his teammates including James McCarthy, Bryan Cullen and his wife Ailis, Cian O’Sullivan and his girlfriend Danielle Byrne and Dean Rock, who was accompanied by his girlfriend Niamh McEvoy.

Former Dublin star Jason Sherlock also travelled to Killenard with his wife to watch his friend wed beauty Joanne.

Despite the rain, the newlyweds beamed as they posed for photographs outside the church. The bride donned a silk ivory dress with a sweet-heart neckline and an embroidered bodice, her blonde hair in loose curls, while her groom looked smart in a tailored three-piece grey suit with a lilac bow-tie.

Before walking down the aisle with her dad, the beautiful bride posed for photographs with her three bridesmaids who were clad in lilac gowns.

Despite his successful senior-football career, Claxton, who is a secondary school teacher, remains extremely private and rarely talks about his other half. The pair’s wedding comes after more than five years as a couple.
