'I had nothing left to wish for' - Singer Michelle Branch announces engagement to The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney

Goodbye to You singer shares pic of her brand new sparkler with fans

US singer-songwriter Michelle Branch has announced her engagement to musician Patrick Carney, and proudly showcased her new art deco style sparkler for fans.

The Goodbye to You singer, who has been dating her drummer beau Carney since they began collaborating on her 2017 album Hopeless Romantic, revealed to fans that she said 'yes' after the musician popped the question on her 34th birthday.

"Last night, right before I blew out my candles, @officerpatrickcarney asked me to marry him and then I had nothing left to wish for."

"34 might be the best year yet," she added.

The Arizona native has credited musician Carney, 37, with helping her to release her first new album in 14 years, saying the record "wouldn't have seen the light of day" had it not been for her producer and husband-to-be.

"That’s why it was important for him to be up there. When we were making it, it felt like it was us against the world," she told Billboard magazine.

It has been somewhat of a roller coaster romance for the loved-up couple, who have not yet announced a date for their nuptials, with the singer's new record documenting their relationship from the start.

"There's songs on the record from the moment I realized I was gonna get divorced to the moment I fell in love with Patrick," she said.

Branch moved to Nashville, Tennessee to be with her new man in March this year and the couple are currently enjoying their time together on the tour for her new album.

It will be the third marriage for the The Black Keys drummer, and the second for Branch, who split from ex-husband Teddy Landau with whom she has an 11-year-old daughter, in 2014.

"It's like, why couldn't we have just met each other in our 20s?" the singer said.

"We would have saved so much heartache! He said that we probably would have f**ked it up. And yeah, we probably would have."

No other band I'd rather wake up at 4 a.m with thanks to everyone who tuned in to Good Morning America!
