And while during their first interview as husband and wife-to-be all eyes were on a young couple at the centre of a whirlwind romance that will see an actress become a princess (possibly) and a prince finally find the happiness he deserves, the magpies among us couldn't hear a word for straining to have a good look at the devastatingly beautiful ring on Ms. Meghan Markle's dainty little finger.
And what a ring it is.
At its centre is a diamond which Prince Harry sourced in Botswana, where he and Meghan first got to know each other when she joined him for five days and they "camped out under the stars" in the summer of 2016.
The brilliant round diamond is flanked by two smaller (only by comparison) diamonds, which came from the late Princess Diana's personal jewellery collection "to make sure hat she's with us on this crazy journey together," said Harry.
According to experts, the ring could be valued in the region of €90,000-€180,000.
"The ring features a stunning cushion cut diamond which appears to be in the region of 3-4 carats," said Seamus Fahy, founder of Voltaire Diamonds.
"With two round brilliant side stones which are reputed to have once been a part of Princess Diana’s personal collection, we estimate the ring to be valued upwards of €90,000, even reaching the €180,000 mark if the centre stone is a D colour with flawless clarity."
"Considering that the two incredible side stones come from the late Princess of Wales’ own collection, the ring is priceless!"
Set in yellow gold - which is slowly again replacing white gold and platinum in engagement ring trends - the ring could be considered quite unusual, however the band was the personal preference of the bride-to-be.
“The ring is yellow gold because that’s [Meghan's] favourite," said Prince Harry, speaking to the BBC's Mishal Husain.
While yellow gold is currently making a comeback, three stone engagement rings have maintained their popularity over the years, and there are a range of stunning styles to choose from for your own.
Sure if it's good enough for a future royal?!
