Happy ending for man who dropped ring into the ocean during waterfront proposal

As if he wasn't nervous enough!

A man's worst nightmare was realised when he proposed to his girlfriend and the ring fell into the ocean.

Before getting down on one knee, Matthew Picca (25) dropped the diamond ring into the water when family, friends and a horde of onlookers all helped in the search for the sparkler.

Bride-to-be Kayla Harrity (24) said she was "decastated" when she saw the ring fall and was shocked over the proposal.

"I turned around and he was getting down on one knee," Kayla told WECT News.

"As he opened the ring box, the ring fell out of the box and fell through the cracks on the deck and into the water. I didn't even get to see it before it dropped."

"I knew he had a great plan for the proposal and when the ring fell I was devastated. I knew we had to find the ring," she added to The Huffintgon Post.

It took an hour and a half before a good samaritan, Kyle Blusher, eventually found the ring and returned it to the couple.

The couple had been holidaying with Kayla's family in North Carolina when he decided to pop the question outside the Old America Fish Co waterside restaurant.

Shirtless from his search in the water and "smelling like salty, fishing water", Matthew got down on bended knee again and she said yes.
