As costs began to rise for her big day, Seattle based fashionista Chi Krneta began creating her own wedding dress to cut costs, but never dreamed at how effective her efforts would be.
Her story first came to light after she posted her work on a Reddit thread and revealed the materials for her dress, which she crocheted herself, cost less than $30.
She said that crocheting was way to keep her late grandmother involved in the process as the two used to to share the activity.
Even more impressive is the fact that her dress is machine washable and Chi has every intention of recycling her gown for another occasion.
"I crochet a lot on the bus during my commute and have made other things like hats, scarves, and shorter dresses," she told ABC News. "I knew I wanted to design and make my own wedding dress (I also sew) and figured that crocheting it would be the most efficient way to accomplish."
“The dress was practically free because I didn't spend much money on it (under $30 for all of the materials including fabric for the lining) and I didn't spend much extra time on it,”she added.
