"It was the set-up of a new tag rugby team. There was a sparkle in her eyes when the introductions were made and the romance quickly blossomed over the following months," says Muiris.
The pair got engaged a year before the wedding when, using Serena's grandmother's ring, Muiris got down on one knee in Farmleigh on a rainy Sunday morning. And befitting the occasion, a rainbow appeared just after Serena said yes!
The pair opted to get married in Serena's local church in Raharney, Co Westmeath and to hold their December reception at nearby Middleton Park House. Instead of a traditional wedding car this couple were lucky enough to have their friend, Dee, drive them in a campervan - complete with ivory ribbons and a pretty cream décor inside. Serena made her own brooch bouquet with some help from her friend Elva, and Muiris's mum, Anne, hand crocheted the delicate ring cushion. The bride bought her gown in the White Room, Mullingar and the bridesmaids, Serena's sisters, wore violet dresses from Phase 8.
After their wonderful winter wedding Serena and Muiris went on a three-week honeymoon to Mexico to get some winter sun and soak up the culture.
