Real Irish Weddings: A Midsummer Night's Dream for Michelle and Jonathan

Michelle, from Kent, met Jonathan, from Belfast, through a mutual friend when she was studying at Trinity College in Dublin.

After their second meeting - nearly a year later - the pair became close and would travel up and down to spend weekends together until Michelle was able to make the move to Belfast when she finished college.

Jonny proposed to Michelle when they took a trip with friends to Coll, in the Scottish Hebrides, to ring in New Year's Eve 2013. While on a morning walk, Michelle was busy taking photos and when she made her way back to Jonny he got down on one knee and took out his great-grandmother's ring.

The couple opted for a civil ceremony, choosing Limepark in Antrim as a venue for both ceremony and reception.

"We wanted a unique venue. We fell in love with the place the first time we went to see it," says Michelle.

The pair held the ceremony in the Gallery Room of Limepark as bad weather in the lead up to the day put them off their original plan of a garden ceremony. Opting for a modern rustic theme, Michelle styled the wedding herself, sourcing table decorations like candles, picture frames and bunting, painting jam jars collected with the help of her family, and baking the wedding cake and macarons herself, while graphic designer Jonny designed beautiful stationary and signs.

After the wedding Michelle and Jonny enjoyed their honeymoon break in Thailand for two weeks.
