Real Irish Weddings: An elegant day for school sweethearts Kerrie and Nathan

Nathan and Kerrie, both from Markethill, Co Armagh, met at secondary school 17 years ago.

Sitting beside each other every day, Kerrie eventually became smitten with Nathan, even helping him with his homework before classes would begin. Their first date is something she'll never forget.

At 16, Nathan didn't drive, but determined to pick up Kerrie for the local disco he enlisted the help of his pal who had recently acquired a licence allowing him to drive the family tractor.

"Yes, a big bright and shiny blue New Holland TS tractor arrived at my house, wheels bigger than me, can you imagine the look on my Dad's face?" says Kerrie. "Nathan sitting up, proud as punch that he was collecting me in this and me wondering how on earth I was going to manage to get into that thing in my new 'ra-ra' skirt and Mum's borrowed sandals."

Nathan proposed while on a weekend away in 2014 and the pair booked their Monaghan venue not long after. "Castle Leslie has wowed us for many years. It's only a 35-minute drive from our home so it was also a little spot we enjoyed visiting. We adored the relaxed, country feel to the venue," says Kerrie.

And with the help of Julie Anne from Event Planners NI, their dream day came to life. Nathan and Kerrie had a personal church ceremony which saw her walk up the aisle in her Jenny Packham Bardot dress from Castle Couture in Ballymena, followed by her bridesmaids in handmade off-white dresses to match.

Kerrie and Nathan jetted off to Las Vegas and Cancun, Mexico for their relaxing 11-day honeymoon.
