Real Irish Weddings: Perfect timing for James and Caoimhe in old world elegance

James and Caoimhe found love on their doorstep and celebrated with a special something blue

James and Caoimhe grew up just streets apart in Dublin and met as teenagers and it was five years later when James made his move and asked her out.

"When we were teenagers things never lined up for us to go out and then we went to college so didn't see each other much. Then one day we bumped into each other on the bus and got chatting and arranged to meet up for a drink, and eight years after that decided to get married," says Caoimhe.

In 2014 James had arranged for the couple to go horse-riding and then popped the question while they had a picnic on Ballymoney beach in Co Wexford.

The pair had their civil ceremony in Ardgillan Castle, Balbriggan and Caoimhe says they wanted to bring a feeling of old world elegance to the day.

The bride found her dream dress at Bridal Boutique in Fairview and her shoes have their own story:

"We went into town to get Caoimhe's wedding shoes but ended up disappointed when we couldn't find a pair to suit her vision. So as a surprise, to make Caoimhe feel better, I went online and after a few days of searching found a pair I thought matched Caoimhe's idea. She loved them and they became part of the big day," says James.

James and Caoimhe stayed at The Cliff House Hotel in Waterford directly after the wedding, and in January they enjoyed their honeymoon in Cuba for 10 nights.
