The Instagram post - which featured the couple in white bathrobes kissing at a wedding altar and the caption 'I do A LOT' -appeared to confirm that the couple, who have been engaged since Valentine's Day, had tied the knot and led to streams of messages of congratulations coming in for the 'newlyweds'.
However the three-times divorced musician, 55, and his partner, 31, have confirmed that their 'wedding' photos was a prank, with the two having taken advantage of a 'left over' wedding from another couple's big day.
"BEST.DAY.EVER (to take a photo in front of someone’s leftover wedding alter)" bride-to-be Brittany later edited the caption on the photo to read, after confirming on her Instagram story that she had 'punked' her 2.3million followers.
The couple got engaged on Valentine's Day earlier this year, with Insta star Brittany confirming it on her feed.
"Well this certainly beats chocolates! Say hello to future Mrs. Lee. #engaged,' she wrote on Instagram following the proposal.
Tommy Lee was previously married to Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, however the couple called it quits for good in 2008.
