Why an engagement may not be on the cards for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just yet

Royal watchers may have to take a deep breath as plans to pop the question look further than anticipated

Despite the world's media practically urging Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to walk down the aisle, it looks like the happy couple are 'in no rush' to become husband and wife.

While it was reported that staff of Britain's royal family had been tasked with finding the perfect date for the couple to tie the knot, even an engagement seems to be a long way away, one source has claimed.

Speaking to US website The Daily Beast, a 'royal insider' has said that the couple are still months away from making an announcement - and may even want to live together for a full year before making things official.

According to the source, Prince Harry and girlfriend Meghan will wait until after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcome their third child in April before making an engagement announcement, which pushes a wedding date out far further than some had anticipated.

For those who thought reports that Suits actress Meghan was preparing to move to London were a sign that the couple were planning to tie the knot, the news that it could be another year until a big British wedding will be a knock.

However those hoping for some Royal occasions to tide them over the holiday season may be happy to hear that the Queen and Prince Philip will celebrate their platinum wedding anniversary in November.
