It was by chance that the two were introduced in a pub that year, and it was another four before they began a romantic relationship.
Johnny popped the question on a miserable Friday morning in November 2015. They had discussed tying the knot, and had even looked at rings, but when Johnny presented the jewellery box on that special but unspectacular morning, romantic in its normality, Rebecca was taken by surprise.
The couple married in summer '17, and held their reception in Barnabrow House.
Their photographer was Katie Kav Photography.
"I wanted the traditional wedding, Johnny not so much," said Rebecca. "That was probably the only thing we didn’t agree on."
"I actually surprised myself with the planning, I’m always leaving everything last minute but not this time, I was booking vendors nearly 18 months in advance. My theme you could say was sort of rustic, my dad made a large wooden photo booth and my cake stand."
"I sourced most of the smaller decorations from Ali express and the local office supplies shop. I literally googled everything. The only time I used Pinterest was for hair ideas, I tired to not get too carried away."
"I was a bit indecisive to start. In the end I went for a Mikealla designed dress from My dress in Carrick on suir. I wanted to be a little different and stay away from lace and beading so the fabric was crepe with a detailed belt."
"Can I just add the girls in My dress were just fantastic with me!"
Rebecca's bridesmaids' dresses were from All about Eve in Waterford and the suits were from Neol Devereux Menswear in Dungarvan.
Four months before they booked Barnabrow, they weren't going to at all. When they went and gave the venue a proper look however, they fell in love.
"We got to walk around the whole venue just us. I wanted something different and Barnabrow house was that. We were sold when we tasted the food."
"Our menu was very straight forward, chicken or beef for the main, our desert was delicious (iced caramel parfait) we served sparking rosé instead of prosecco with mini scones with butter and jam. For evening food we did bacon butties."
The Stand-out Moments
"The first was when we were married, just signed the register and were making our way out of the church, hand in hand, it was surreal. I think that’s the moment Katie (Kav, their wedding photographer) got the biggest smile on my face."
"Johnny and I got a few minutes alone before the meal to just sit out on the decking, reflect on the day so far. I really enjoyed this as no stage are you alone on the day so it was lovely we got our few minutes."
Rebecca and Johnny went to Rome for thier mini moon. "We still have our Maldives honeymoon to look forward to at the end of November."
"Ask for advice but let it be your decision. Don’t plan your wedding for someone else, it's you day and you are not going to be able to please everyone."
